Flash Back.... Part 2

Ok, now THIS was fun! I went through some REALLY old pictures and thought I'd share these with you.... still.... I'm missing several Butt Family pictures, but I've got some good Dit-ler Fow-more pictures on here that you'd get a kick out of.... hehehee....With me now having Fridays off, I'll be able to look through and add PLENTY more where these came from.

Not REALLY sure where half of these pictures took place, but here's an old one of Megan and Julie hanging out on a boulder. My guess since I wasn't there... this MIGHT be the Cades Cove trip that I missed out on.

Jeff and I riding Wendy and Cherokee- Cathy and Wendel's horses at their house. hehehe! This was before they saw Megan and Jennifer and nearly bucked us off and took off towards them with us still on their backs. For some reason, those two horses weren't big fans of Megan and Jennifer. Never knew why.

Julie on Wendy with Wendel leading her... Movie Star.

Julie and Cathy on Cherokee.

Jennifer up at Big Canoe. This was at an old cabin along the Jeep Trail.

Megan, Danielle, and Steve up at Connestee Falls, NC hanging out a couple of years ago.

Marquardt, Caitlin, and Steve back up at Connestee Falls- at the overlook in mom and dad's neighborhood.

hehehehee! Megan doing some sort of pose..... not real sure what it means but I'm sure there's a story behind it.

Julie and Megan up at Desoto Falls.

Ah... more Lake camping pictures. I'm in the orange shirt, then Jeff is the closest to the lake and Jennifer is in the background.

Charlotte, GW, and Dad..... and I can't tell where this is, but it's pretty. ; )

Jeff and I camping at the lake. He doesn't look too pleased that we're looking at him reading his book. ; )

I think the back of this picture said Lake Lanier Islands..... we look like a couple of Dirt Dobbers... and I don't look like a happy camper at all!

HERE we are.... wading in the creek up in Unicoi. Boy we were little. Julie is the littlest up front. Jennifer must be hiding in this picture.

Flash from the Past... Part One.. maybe?

Here's a little flash from the past. I thought I'd post up some humorous pictures of our Outdoor Adventures from back in the day. I KNOW I have plenty more where these came from, but here are just a few for your entertainment. I do want to apologize ahead of time for the quality of the pictures. If I can find the originals to rescan, I'll replace these, but I'm not really sure where they are now.

Typical Butt Family pose. Here we are at Moccasin Creek. I guess I was in maybe the 11th or 12th grade here.

Another Butt Family trip. OH yeah, for those of you who are NOT familiar with the Butt Family Adventures, basically, it's our family aliases. That way if we are caught doing something we aren't, no one would REALLY know our real names. In the picture above... you see Bathsheba, Buffalo, Baggy (?), Bertha, and Bitty Butt. hehehe! AND... I'm not sure where this picture was taken, so if any of you know, let me know.

hehehee! Happy Campers from the start. Us and the Fowlers at Lake Lanier camping. A tradition we used to do growing up as kids and LOVED. Many funny stories came from these trips, from the quarter sized bug bites that everyone thought were chicken pox to having to hover over urinals because the stinky women's toilets were broken. Good times!

Megan, Adena, and I at Unicoi getting ready to wade in the creek. We LOVED that place as kids!

Charlotte and Cathy at Anna Ruby Falls.

Ok, in order of smallest to tallest. Little Megan, Adena, Me (peeking out from behind Adena because she was the same height), Kim, Kerensa, and Dad. Again.. not really sure where we are here, but my guess would be somewhere outside of Helen.

Another trip. Dad, Megan, Adena, Me and Julie in the front.

Another Lake camping trip. Megan LOVED the ball and insisted on it being on her head as a hat the whole time.

This might be the same Anna Ruby Falls trip. Julie is the little one sitting in Cathy's lap and GW has his back to us with his hand on Megan's shoulder. Nice red socks, Megs. hehehe! I think you can barely see Jeff and Jennifer in the background. I must be hiding somewhere else.

FUN Ditmore Fowler White Water Rafting trip. Yes, we actually got both Mom AND Charlotte to go down that time. It will be the last time we'll ever see them on a raft, but it was still great to see them on there.

I'll keep checking around for more old pictures of us enjoying the outdoors. Hope you got a good laugh out of these. ; )

Zion National Park... Steve's Point of View.....

As promised, here are some of the pictures that Steve took. I'll post Chris's pictures when I get them later. These might be a little out of order, but you get the idea.

The large Oak tree in the middle of the lawn in front of the lodge. This was the main hang out during the hot part of the day. It's amazing as to how much cooler it was to sit under there.

The pasture on Chamberlin's Ranch. Beautiful!

River crossing

This sandstone looked like a dinosaur's skull. Very cool looking.

Lots of arches broken out of the canyon walls as well.

There were also plenty of log jams to have to climb over. Some were almost a little TOO hard to get over..hehehee! I recall getting my shorts hung up on one and then falling into the water climbing over another one.

Looking up in The Narrows

All smiles!

Looking down over the waterfalls. We guessed they were close to 20' tall.

Megan posing.

Walter's Wiggles. The view looking down at Chris and I. We saw so many pictures of this part of the trail and were really worried about it... it ended up being the Not So Bad part of the trail. Kind of.

Skipping around.... here's the top of the West Rim

Hiking around through the brush

The little spring at the top of the trail. They say that you need to filter the water before you drink it...they aren't kidding. I heard that you had to move all the bug larvae and algea out of the way to get the water out.
The scary cliff trail on the way down the rim.... doesn't look as bad here, but hiking down it, you just see the side of the trail and no slant.

Almost to the bottom of the trail!
A different view of Walter's Wiggles..... see why they looked pretty scary? ; )

You see Walter's Wiggles making it's way up to Angel's Landing.

The shuttle bus. VERY efficient! I just wish more parks used this system.

Another arch.
Hidden Canyon- Steve and Chris's trip while Megan and I were hiking the Emerald Pools trail.

Chris in a cave

A better view of the lodge

Back to a few more Narrows pictures. This was another obsticle. It got REALLY deep where my feet are in the picture, so the only way to get across was to climb to that point and then pull yourself up. Otherwise, you'd be swimming.

You can see that it's up to Megan's waist and she's not even to the point yet.

Another deep spot by some hanging gardens.
